Tatag ng Wikang Filipino, Lakas ng Pagka-Pilipino

What do you think is the reason why oneness exists among the different groups of people in a certain country? How is their own identity being formed? Well, I do think that this is not because of their looks or the way they dress up and this isn’t even because of their acts and deeds; instead, this is because of their own language. If you try to ponder on this thing, the people of a certain country unite because of their national language. Philippines and the Filipino language is the best example for this.
Many chapters had been molded from the history of the national language of the Philippines. If we try to trace its history, we will discover that the Filipinos were really hard up in their adventure towards the success of their national language’s establishment. Philippines is an archipelago, this is one of the reasons why the Filipinos were not united at the very first point. The people in every island, region and tribe, have a unique culture with its own dialect. Because of this, the Filipinos had a difficulty in understanding one another. Aside from the geography, diverse cultures and varied dialects of the Philippines, the Filipinos were hard up in the establishment of their own national language because of the Spaniards. The Spaniards supersede them; they took away the freedom and rights of every Filipinos. But, when the Philippines had freed from being a colony of Spain, it wasn’t still enough for the Filipinos to just have a government. They needed a certain language which will be used as an instrument in attaining nation’s unity, in order for the gap between the regions to be eradicated. Because of these hindrances, the Filipinos have gone through many arguments before they had established the said national language. In the end, according to the 1986 Constitution (Article XIV, Section VI), Filipino is the national language of the Philippines. It was established as the national language of the Philippines through the help of Manuel L. Quezon, who was known as the “Father of National Language”. After long years, the Filipino language has become the reason why the Filipinos have now their own identity. The Filipino language isn’t just important in communication. It is also very significant because it is the instrument for the Filipinos to express their ideas and insights which leads to the Philippines’ oneness.
The more than 7000 islands of the Philippines are now united and the oneness among the Filipinos was already attained. Thanks to the Filipino language. Mabuhay ang Wikang Filipino, Mabuhay ang sambayanang Pilipino!

A Matter of Silliness

Upon entering the door towards my fourth year high school life, I have encountered diverse experiences which brought me varied yet significant learning and discoveries. Many things opened up my innocent mind into the different concepts of reality. I’m just going to cite my noteworthy experiences in our Information and Communication Technology class, to be more specific.

The highlight of our ICT class for the first grading period is to make our own blogs. This was actually my initial time to encounter such “blog”, which is actually a user-generated website. Definitely, I was amazed and I have even come to the point that I even longed to know all the things about blog.
We can’t deny the fact that problems are naturally encountered by typical students, like me. Being a Special Science Class student requires immeasurable effort and is being entailed by indefinable sacrifice. We are regularly overloaded with brainstorming studies-related activities and requirements. Our schedule is definitely hectic and having sleepless nights has become a norm for us. In relation to our lesson in ICT (blog), our teacher assigned us to make our own blogger accounts. Honestly, I was hard up in accomplishing the said activity. At first, I can’t make my blogger account because the ten varied passwords that I have been longing were all rejected. I don’t know why, but when I was almost to give up, it was then the time that I succeed in making my own blogger account. Definitely, this silly happening has driven me crazy. Another silly thing I’ve done is when I cried, by the time I couldn’t post  my blog posts and by the time I couldn’t confirm my blogger account because of the weak Internet connection. In relation to the making of our blogger accounts, our teacher requested us to post four different blog posts. At first, I was afraid to post the compositions I’ve made because I am frightful that some might negatively criticize my work. However, I have realized that I must inculcate in my mind that no one in this world is perfect to laugh at my imperfections. Imperfections do exist within us, right? And besides, I have a good aim –to improve my thinking and writing skills as well as to express myself. You know what?  I have been so grateful to God because He blessed me with kind-hearted friends who have been always there to extend their help. And I owe God for thee! For now, I have been laughing with the silly things I’ve done and I am now considering such problems in life as challenges, in case you wanted to know.
I do believe that life is an undying cycle. It is a battle of survival. I will continue considering problems in life (which are actually challenges), as washing machines; because they spin and knock me around so that in the end, I will come out better than before. Moving on, I will continue aiming, flying and soaring high for the attainment of my dreams in life.

P-Noy's Third SONA: Detailed Yet Lacking

July 23, 2012 is one of the noteworthy dates in the Philippine history because it is when President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III delivered his third State of the Nation Address (SONA). As usual, he delivered the said SONA at the Session Hall of the House of Representatives, Quezon City.
I do think that SONA is an address or speech given by the President to his countrymen which mainly tackles about the nation’s status during his administration. At this juncture, I am going to share my insights and criticisms with regards to the recently delivered SONA of P-Noy.  In case you wanted to know, then it is a must for you to continue reading this.
President Aquino’s third SONA started with a litany of what he calls “nightmare” from his predecessor. He continued with the accomplishments of his administration for the past two years and the plans or actions to be undertaken for the rest four more years, in the aspect of Health, Education, Economy, Agriculture, and Infrastructure. He extended his bounteous thanks to his Cabinet Officials, but he was giving them tasks, he was mandating them to work.  His speech allows Filipinos whom he calls his bosses, to hold his administration accountable. He also mentioned the issue about the West Philippine Sea and the fight for justice for the victims of Maguindanao Massacre.
I do commend President Aquino for delivering his message well. It was a detailed SONA but it should have been more specific about laws that should be passed. His accomplishments were detailed, but for me, the report to the nation was lacking. He should have also shared an articulate and coherent strategy on how to curb poverty and he should have also mentioned about the Freedom of Information Bill and the Charter Change. It was such a long speech yet a very short and limited agenda. However, I do still believe that P-Noy’s third SONA had more pluses than minuses.
